Consul General Gao Zhansheng Presented at the Ceremony of 2011 Chinese Government Awards for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad
On the afternoon of May 20, 2012, the Ceremony of 2011 Chinese Government Awards for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad was held in the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco. Chief consul of education, Dr. Shao Wei, presided over the ceremony, the Consul General Gao Zhansheng addressed at the ceremony, and presented the awards and bonuses for the 23 award-winning students.
After expressing congratulations to the students awarded, Consul General Gao encouraged Chinese students to follow the guide of "five hopes" proposed by Chinese President Hu Jintao, which identified as adhering to lofty ideals, to hard studying, to hard working, to innovation and to the noble morality. He also encouraged Chinese students to take award-winning students as models to achieve better results in learning and higher attainments in academic research by diligent efforts in action and ambitious targets in mind.
Representatives for award-winning student, tutors and judges also addressed at the ceremony. More than 200 Chinese students and scholars now studying at the San Francisco Bay Area attended the events.
"Chinese Government Awards for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad "was established by the China Scholarship Commission in 2003, so far a total of nearly 3000 doctor candidates supported by their own around the world have received this award.
