Deputy Consul General Ren Faqiang remarked that inspired by the 150th anniversary of Chinese railroad workers in North America, Mr. Hou Ning drew 3 pieces of Chinese railroad workers oil paintings and donate them to Stanford's East Asian Library and Center for East Asian Studies. Chinese railroad workers should never be forgotten for their historic contributions to America's national unification, economic development and China-US peoples friendly exchanges. Deputy Consul General Ren appraised Stanford' Chinese Railroad Workers in North America Project and Mr. Hou Ning for their efforts to introduce and preserve Chinese railroad workers history.

Mr. Jidong Yang and Mr. John Groschwitz appreciated Mr. Hou Ning for his painting donations. They said that Stanford University is historically linked to Chinese railroad workers, who helped Mr. Leeland Stanford, the founder of Stanford University, to finish building the first trans-continental railroad in North America.
