BEIJING, March 19 (Xinhuanet) -- "We've taken note of the shooting at Chen Shui-bian and Annette Lu," said a spokesman with the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council here Friday.

    As the truth of the incident remains unclear at present, "we'll continue to follow the developments," the spokesman said in response to a request for comment on the incident.

    TAIPEI, March 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Taiwan authorities' leaders Chen Shui-bian and Annette Lu were slightly wounded in a shooting at 13:45 Friday in Tainan city during electoral campaigning, local media reported.

    The incident is under investigation, Taiwan authorities said.
