On November 2, 2009, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao met with a delegation of officials from the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) headed by Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Joshua Law.

Song said the Chinese Foreign Ministry will continue to actively support HKSAR to engage in external exchanges and cooperation, well protect the rights and interests of Kong Hong compatriots abroad and create a favorable external environment for Hong Kong's prosperity and stability. Permanent Secretary Joshua Law thanked for the support the Foreign Ministry has been offering to HKSAR and hoped for enhanced exchange and cooperation between the HKSAR government and the Foreign Ministry.
