On October 26, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Guangya met with Dulat Bakishev, Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), who is here for the meeting of the special working group and the meeting of the senior officials committee of the CICA.

Wang made positive comments on the efforts the CICA has made since its founding to build understanding and trust among its member states. China attaches importance to the development of the CICA and will as always actively participate in the CICA process. China is ready to work with Kazakhstan, host country of the forum, and other member states to push for an even greater role of the CICA in promoting the building of a harmonious region.

Bakishev congratulated China on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and thanked the Chinese side for organizing the current special working group's meeting and senior officials' meeting on behalf of the CICA Secretariat. He believed that with the support of China and other member countries, CICA will achieve greater development to promote mutual trust and cooperation among all Asian countries.
