On October 16, 2009, Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met with Sheila Sisulu, Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WEF) on invitation. Sisulu expressed congratulations on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, spoke highly of the good cooperation between the WFP and China over the past 30 years, and appreciated the important role played by China in the areas of hunger and food security. The two sides also exchanged views on a number of topics including the global food security situation, the impact of climate change on food security, and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
