On September 14, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Guangya met in the Foreign Ministry with Joe Keshi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, who is here to co-chair the first China-Nigeria strategic dialogue with the Chinese side.

Wang made positive comments on bilateral ties and thanked for Nigeria's support to China on issues concerning China's core interests. China is ready to enhance friendly exchanges with Nigeria, expand the area of cooperation and push for in-depth development of bilateral ties.

Keshi said that Nigeria attaches importance to ties with China and will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China policy. Nigeria is ready to work with China to push the ties for steady and rapid development.
