On September 8, 2009, Song Tao, a leader from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with the delegation headed by Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong, Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government. Wei Wei, Director General of the Department of Consular Affairs, was present at the meeting. The two parties exchanged views on such topics as the current diplomatic and consular work in relation to Hong Kong, particularly the cooperation in such areas as consular protection of Hong Kong citizens abroad, promotion of Hong Kong SAR passports, and application for Hong Kong Visas by foreign nationals. Song said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and China's diplomatic missions overseas will as always create favorable external environment and conditions for the prosperity, stability and development of Hong Kong SAR. Lee thanked the central government and the foreign ministry for extending help and support to the Hong Kong SAR Government, saying that the Hong Kong SAR Government will firmly execute the policy of "one country, two systems" and seek closer cooperation between Hong Kong and the mainland of China. |
