On June 25, 2009, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dipu Moni in New York. During the meeting, Yang told his Bangladeshi counterpart that China and Bangladesh are friendly and close neighbors, the Chinese government attaches great importance to the Sino-Bangladeshi relations, and it is China's adamantine policy to consolidate and develop the relations of friendship with Bangladesh. China is willing to work with Bangladesh to further expand the bilateral pragmatic cooperation in political, economic and trade, agricultural and cultural fields and bring benefits to both peoples, the Chinese foreign minister said. Yang said that as a friendly and close neighbor, China is ready to continue offering support and assistance within its ability to Bangladesh's economic development. Moni said that Bangladesh and China have enjoyed relations of friendship and cooperation for a long time, and Bangladesh sees China as its close friend and cooperation partner. Bangladesh and China have conducted frequent exchanges at all levels, and the bilateral cooperation in all areas has made great achievements, she said, adding that her country will join hands with China to advance together and further tap potential of cooperation, so as to push the bilateral ties to a new level. |
