On December 29, 2008, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei, who is in Hanoi for the talks between heads of the government delegations of China and Vietnam on border issues between the two countries. Nguyen Tan Dung hailed the important progress made in the development of bilateral ties. The decision by the leaders of the two countries to establish Vietnam-China all-round strategic and cooperative partnership has pushed their ties to a new phase. The Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese government attach great importance to developing ties with China and will endeavor to enrich the Vietnam-China all-round strategic and cooperative partnership in order to benefit both peoples, he said. Nguyen Tan Dung said the land boundary survey work has made significant progress. He expressed hope that the government delegations of the two countries will make joint efforts to complete on time the work of land border demarcation and erecting land border markers along the entire length of their land borders and implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries in a down-to-earth manner. Wu said the Chinese government has always viewed ties with Vietnam from a strategic perspective. China is ready to work along with Vietnam to advance China-Vietnam good-neighborly friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation. Under the direct care and direction of leaders of the two countries and with the joint efforts of both sides, the land boundary survey work is nearly completed. Both sides should continue their efforts to comprehensively complete the work, in a bid to promote peace, stability and prosperity along the China-Vietnam border and boost the development of the two countries' all-round strategic partnership of cooperation. |
