Media Accreditation for ASEM 7 Summit

The ASEM 7 Summit will be held in Beijing in October 2008. Journalists interested in covering the event are requested to submit the application to the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PRC from 10 July to 20 September. Detailed arrangements are as follows:

All Chinese and foreign journalists interested are requested to register on-line at the official ASEM7 website (http://www.asem7.cn). Please note that the registration will close on 20 September.

In addition,

------For journalists from China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), editors' confirmation needs to be faxed to the Information Department.

------Foreign journalists travelling with official delegations from the participating countries or international organizations are requested to apply to their relevant authorities, who should enclose the name list of journalists and equipments list to the Chinese embassies or consulates via official Note.

------While registering on-line, foreign journalists on temporary assignment to cover the Summit are requested to provide a letter of authorization from their editors.

-------While registering on-line, foreign journalists accredited in China are requested to provide the number of Press Card issued by the Information Department.

-------While registering on-line, Chinese assistants for foreign media are requested to provide the number of Employees' Card issued by the Chinese foreign service authorities.

The information on media arrangements, press cards pick-up and etc. will be released later on the official website.
