China, Russia Hold Consultation on Strategic Stability in Beijing

On April 18, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister He Yafei and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Kislyak held consultation on strategic stability between the two countries in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on the current international security situation, non-proliferation, hot regional issues and multilateral arms control. They agreed that under the current international situation, it is of vital importance for world peace and security to safeguard global strategic stability, boost mutual trust among nations and resolve international disputes by peaceful means. Support for the arms control process under the multilateral framework and settlement of issues concerning the non-proliferation process are also of great significance. China and Russia agreed to maintain close consultations on relevant issues.
