Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei Meets with Afghan First Vice President Massoud

On December 3, Afghan First Vice President Ahmad Zia Massoud met with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei in Kabul.

At the meeting, Massoud said that Afghanistan's political process has scored great progress and the security situation has taken a turn for the better. The task of top priority is to develop economy and improve people's livelihood. China's experience is of great significance for Afghanistan to draw lessons from. He thanked the Chinese government and people for their assistance and emphasized that Afghanistan attaches great importance to relations with China and hopes to further strengthen substantive cooperation with China in the areas of economy & trade, agriculture, transportation, energy and resources exploitation.

Wu noted that both sides are close neighbors and the exchanges between their people go back to ancient times. China attaches great importance to relations with Afghanistan, hopes to advance all-round development of bilateral relations on the existing basis and would like to play an active role in Afghanistan's process of peaceful reconstruction. China would like to actively take part in multilateral cooperation mechanisms conductive to Afghanistan's economic growth and would also like to continue offering assistance to Afghanistan through bilateral channels.

On the same day, Wu also met with Afghan Second Vice President Mohammad Karim Khalili.
