Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Jianchao's Comment On The Remarks Denying The Historical Fact Of Comfort Women By Japanese Minister of Education, Science and Technology

Q: On June 11th, Japanese Education, Science and Technology Minister Nariaki Nakayama said there had been no such a word as Comfort Women during the Second World War and it was wrong to write a non-existent word into history textbooks. What's your comment on this?

A: The forced conscription of "comfort women" is a severe crime committed by Japanese militarism during the Second World War. It is a historical fact known to all around the world. The brazen denial of the hideous historical fact by the Japanese cabinet member in charge of education hurts badly the feeling of the people of those victimized countries. We strongly condemn such remarks.
