On February 9, 2012, Deputy Consul General Song Ruan hosted welcoming reception for Heibei Province and Macao SAR arts groups to attend the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade in Chinese Consulate General. The president of San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, the organizers of the Parade Committee and etc. were invited to the reception.

Deputy Consul General Song indicated in his remarks that, as a remarkable Chinese culture brand with more than one hundred years, the parade has attracted a variety of ethnic groups to join in the march and almost millions of spectators and television viewers annually. It is not only the largest scale Chinese New Year celebration in Bay Area, but also one of the most time-honored and influential carnivals in US, which is especially popular among Western Americans. It will bring not only good wishes to overseas Chinese and give them a chance to see some of typical forms of performing arts from China, but also friendship and goodwill to American people with significance to make them better understand Chinese culture and promote mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and American peoples.
