Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco and the State of California co-hosted the GCAS China Delegation Welcome Reception
2018/09/15

On the evening of September 12, 2018, Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco and the State of California co-hosted the GCAS China Delegation Welcome Reception in San Francisco. Chinese Consul General Wang Donghua, Governor of California Jerry Brown and his wife, China's Special Representative for Climate Change Affairs Xie Zhenhua, Vice President of Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Xie Yuan, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province Miao Ruilin, former US Secretary of Energy Steven Chu and more than 150 guests attended this event.

Consul General Wang said that tackling climate change is an important part of pragmatic cooperation between China and California. In recent years, exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the fields of economy, trade, technology and education have delivered benefits to our two peoples. As the world's two largest economies, the common interests between China and the United States far outweigh the differences, and cooperation is the only correct choice for both sides. Both China and the United States have too much to lose to allow anyone to trigger a trade war. Chinese Consulate General is willing to work with all consular districts, including California, to maintain mutually beneficial cooperation relationship and the fundamental interests of the two peoples.

Governor Brown expressed his gratitude to President Xi Jinping for his strong support to Global Climate Action Summit. He emphasized that the future will no longer rely on fossil fuels such as coal and oil, but rely on information, innovation and cooperation. Cooperation is the key to winning the future. Refusing to cooperate will make us unable to cope with future challenges. There may be some problems between Washington, D.C. and China, but there is no problem between California and China.

Steven Chu said that our common goal is to enhance the mutual trust between the United States and China at national level through subnational cooperation between California and China. He hope the pragmatic cooperation between the United States and China in various fields become more and more successful.
