Chinese Consulate General in SF held award ceremony of Chinese Government Scholarship for Outstanding Self-financed Overseas Students

On April 1, 2018, Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco held award ceremony of 2017 Chinese Government Scholarship for Outstanding Self-financed Overseas Students, with attendance of more than 130 people, including 26 award-winning students and their family members, friends and supervisors. Consul General Luo Linquan delivered a speech and presented award Certificates.

In his speech, Consul General Luo points out that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the young people of the country. CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping, in his speech at the 19th CPC National Congress and his reply to the letter from Chinese students at University of Moscow, expressed high expectations of the young people. Consul General Luo hopes that Chinese students in American universities improve their abilities, hold fast patriotism and contribute to the China-US friendship.

In 2017, 30 students from the consular region of the Chinese Consulate General in SF were awarded the scholarship, one of whom, Liu Tianyu from UC Santa Cruz, won the Special Excellence Award.
