Chinese Consul General to San Francisco Luo Linquan visits Alaska

From August 31 to September 3, 2017, Chinese Consul General in San Francisco Luo Linquan and his wife were invited to visit Alaska State. During the meeting with Alaska Governor Bill Walker and Anchorage City Mayor Ethan Berkowitz respectively, Consul General Luo said that Alaska is rich in resources and enjoys a unique geographical position. In recent years, China and Alaska have continued pragmatic cooperation in various fields. In April this year, a delegation headed by President Xi Jinping had a stopover in Anchorage, which is a great promotion for the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco is willing to work with Alaska Government, jointly promote the bilateral cooperation to a higher level. Governor Bill Walker thanked Consul General Luo for visiting Alaska, emphasized that Alaska Government attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with China in economic and trade, oil and gas, air transportation, tourism and many other fields, and will spare no effort to unceasingly promote bilateral cooperation. Mayor Berkowitz said Anchorage is an international aviation hub, the municipal Government is willing to strengthen the ties of mutually beneficial cooperation with China, and promote the sister city relationship with Harbin.

During the visit, Consul General Luo visited Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) and Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, and met with Presidents of Visit Anchorage and Travel Juneau respectively, listened to their considerations of cooperation with China in areas including natural gas, direct flight and tourism. Consul General Luo spoke highly of the sub-national cooperation between China and Alaska in recent years, and encouraged the U.S. side to work together with China towards the same direction, so as to make contributions to China-U.S. relations, and promote Alaska's cooperation with China.
