Chinese Consul General to San Francisco Luo Linquan visits Oregon
From August 14 to August 15, 2017, Chinese Consul General in San Francisco Luo Linquan and his wife were invited to visit Oregon State. During the meeting with Oregon Governor Kate Brown and Portland City Mayor Ted Wheeler respectively, Consul General Luo spoke highly of the cooperation between China and Oregon in recent years, emphasized that China always uphold the mutually beneficial "win-win" concept and share the development benefits with Oregon. Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco is willing to work with Oregon Government, jointly promote the bilateral cooperation to a higher level. Governor Kate Brown thanked Consul General Luo for visiting Oregon, emphasized that China is Oregon's biggest trading partner, Oregon Government attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with China in economic and trade, education, culture, environment protection, sister state (city) relationship and many other fields, and will spare no effort to unceasingly promote bilateral cooperation. Mayor Ted Wheeler said Portland values the sister city relationship with Suzhou, the mutual beneficial cooperation between the two cities in various fields are deepening. Portland is willing to strengthen the ties of communication and exchanges with China in the future.

During the visit, Consul General Luo delivered a keynote speech regarding China-U.S. relationship and the Belt and Road Initiative in the University Club of Portland, and attended the banquet held by Oregon-China Sister State Relations Council.

In his speech, Consul General Luo briefed the development of China-U.S. relations and introduced the cooperation between the two countries including high-level exchanges, trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges in recent years, as well as the achievements of sub-national cooperation between China and Oregon State. Consul General Luo also highlighted the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, encouraged Oregon enterprises to take their own advantages and actively participate in the construction of the Initiative. The Oregon audiences highly praised the speech, and expressed their willingness to work together with China to make contributions to China-U.S. relations, and promote Oregon's cooperation with China.
