Chinese Consul General Linquan Luo Met Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg and Attended Select California-Sacramento Reception

On June 12th 2017, Chinese Consul General Luo Linquan met Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg and attended Select California-Sacramento Reception that was hosted by the City of Sacramento for Chinese companies.

Counsel General Luo told Mayor Steinberg that “California plays one of the most important parts in China-U.S. economic cooperation. In 2016, China was the largest source of imports and the third largest export destination of California. Trade between California and China accounted for over a quarter of China-U.S. trade volume. As the State Capitol, Sacramento has many well-developed industries and our two sides should cooperate more closely on those sectors.”

Mayor Steinberg extended welcome to Consul-General Luo. He said that Sacramento regarded China as an important partner and is willing to collaborate on such sectors as agriculture, education and medical devices, and that the City of Sacramento is open to all Chinese companies.

In his speech at the Reception, Consul General Luo stressed that “two-way investment between China and U.S. has become a pillar of China-U.S. economic relations. By the end of 2016, U.S. companies had invested in over 67,000 projects in China, totaling $80 billion. On the other hand, Chinese direct investment in U.S. had reached $50 billion, covered 44 states and created 100,000 jobs. ”
