2017/02/11

On February 8th 2017, Chinese Consul-General Luo Linquan attended Bay Area Council 7th Chinese New Year Celebration. Jim Wunderman, President of BAC, John Chiang, California State Treasurer, Fiona Ma, Chair Board of the Equalization were present.

In his speech, Counsel-General Luo said: “California plays one of the most important parts in the commercial cooperation between China and U.S.. China has been the largest import country and the third largest export destination for California since 2010. In 2015, the trade value between California and China reached 156 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 1/4 of China-U.S. trade volume. Such tremendous success could be attributed to the advanced cooperation mechanism. According to the consensus between President Xi Jinping and Governor Jerry Brown, California and seven Chinese provinces established the ‘Trade and Investment Cooperation Joint Working Group’ in 2013. Bay Area Council, which acts as the Northern California Secretariat of the above mentioned cooperation mechanism, has done a good job in promoting China-California cooperation. ”
