Consul General Wang Donghua delivered a speech

In his speech, Consul General Wang said that the current world is undergoing complex and profound changes unseen in a century. In order to explore a solution for the future of mankind, Chinese President Xi Jinping raised the proposal of building a community with a shared future for mankind in 2013. This proposal aims to unite efforts of all countries to build an open, inclusive, clean, and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security, and common prosperity. Consul General Wang also introduced the ideological connotation of the proposal from five perspectives of political, security, economy, culture and environment.

Wang said that when it comes to building a community with a shared future for mankind, China has been putting vision into action, one of which is the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) raised by Chinese President Xi Jinping. Wang used facts and statistics to introduce the BRI’s contributions to the social and economic development of all the participating countries in the past six yeas, and pointed out that the BRI is not a geopolitical tool. It is a platform for win-win cooperation and public goods to promote the development of all the countries.

Consul General Wang introduced the historical development achievements China has made in the past 70 years. He emphasized that China will continue to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics, and treat the people's aspirations for a better life as the focus of its efforts. It will adhere to the independent foreign policy of peace and the path of peaceful development, further deepen reform and expand opening-up..

Consul General Wang emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 40 years ago, the China-US relationship has made historic progress, bringing tremendous benefits to the two peoples and contributing greatly to world peace and development. As the two largest economies in the world, China and the US stand to gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation. Cooperation is the only right choice for the two countries. China is ready to work together with the US to fully implement the consensus of the two heads of state, bring the China-US trade back to normal as soon as possible, and advance a China-US relationship based upon coordination, cooperation and stability. In the end of the reception, Wang wished all of the young leaders could contribute their wisdom and strength to building a community with a shared future for mankind and making the world a better place.
