Chinese Consul General Wang Donghua Attends Chinese National Flag Raising Ceremony at the San Francisco City Hall

On September 27, 2019, Chinese Consul General Wang Donghua attended the Chinese national flag raising ceremony at the San Francisco City Hall. Mrs. Charlotte Schultz, Director of protocol office of the city, hosted the ceremony to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China. Officials from Mayor’s Office, Representative of California State Assemblymember Philip Ting, Executive Director for Global SF, officials from the Office of Foreign Missions in San Francisco and Chinese Deputy Consul General Zhang Jianxin, Ren Faqiang, Zou Yonghong attended the event.

The government of San Francisco hosted a reception at the mayor's office after the flag-raising ceremony. As the representative of Mayor London Breed, Ms. Charlotte Schultz and delivered a warm speech and toasted for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. She said that San Francisco has a long history of friendly exchanges with China in the areas of economy and trade, as well as people-to-people exchanges. San Francisco now has been a model of US-China friendly cooperation. She also praised all the Chinese in San Francisco for their outstanding contributions to San Francisco’s development.

Consul General Wang expressed thanks to the government of San Francisco for holding the event. He reviewed the fruitful achievements of the exchanges and cooperation between China and San Francisco. He pointed out that San Francisco plays an important role in promoting the development of relations between China and the United States. San Francisco and Shanghai are the first pair of sister cities between the two countries. The two cities will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of sister-city relationship next year. China is ready to work with the government of San Francisco City to elevate the friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation to a new level.

As the representative of Mayor London Breed, Mrs. Schultz announced October 1st, 2019 as the Chinese-American Friendship and Heritage Day of San Francisco and delivered the certificate of recognition to Consulate General Wang.
