Wang emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 40 years ago, China and the United States have made great strides in advancing their relations in an all-round way, delivering great benefits to the two peoples and contributing tremendously to world peace and development. Unfortunately, the tariffs raised by the US on Chinese goods since last year caused enormous damage to both. Actually, facts have proven that China and the US will both benefit from cooperation and suffer from confrontation.

We also hope that China and the US could respect each other's core interests and major concerns, manage differences in the spirit of mutual respect and equality, and expand cooperation on the basis of mutual understanding and mutual benefit. China is ready to work together with the US to fully implement the consensus of the two heads of state, bring the China-US trade back to normal as soon as possible, and advance a China-US relationship based upon coordination, cooperation and stability.

Wang also briefly introduced the current cooperation status between China and California and said that the cooperation between China and California is on a good basis, and full of vitality. Without tariffs being raised, people in California would have benefited more from the cooperation between the two sides, which has great potential and a bright future. China hopes to could work together with California to make new contributions to the long-term relations and the friendship between the Chinese and American people for generations.
