Deputy Consul General Ren Jianqiang Attends the Hearings of the California Legislature on Economic and Trade Issues

On July 17, 2019, the California Assembly Select Committee on Asia/Califirnia Trade and Investment Promotion and the Assembly Committee on Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy jointly held a hearings entitled "U.S. Trade Tariffs on China: Effects on California's Economy" in the California State Building in San Francisco. Chairman of the Select Committee and Assemblymember Phil. Ting presided over the hearings. California Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis, Assemblymembers  Kansen Chu and David Chiu, Executive Director of GlobalSF Carlene Chiu Bryant, President of World Trade Center Los Angeles Stephen Cheung, and Senior Research Fellow of Georgetown University James Green were present. Deputy Consul General of the Chinese Consulate Ren Faqiang attended the hearings and made a presentation.

The participants said that China-US trade frictions and tariff increases have caused damage to the California economy and many industries. China-US relations are very important. The two sides should reach an agreement as early as possible, and properly resolve trade disputes.
